Hi I have an intermittent rubbing noise from the left rear wheel of my car. I seems to happen after taking a sharp right hand bend. It is independent of the brakes and there is no evidence of any rubbing on the tyre. Any ideas!!!

If you are content that it is not brake related, try swapping the rears tyres around and see if the noise moves. If not, possibly wheel bearing.

Thanks Trevor, would a wheel bearing be intermittent though?

Not generally but it has been known once they start to wear.

In your position I would have a close examination of the brake assembly first. Make sure the back plate is not rubbing on the disc, that there are no stones caught in the caliper and that the disc turns smoothly with the pads removed. At the same time you can check for any play in the wheel bearing.
