She wants to shift the blame for the death she caused. In a way I can understand it, but I also think that the court should take that as a lack of remorse in sentencing.

Possibly been very badly advised that it would look good if she were seem to be doing something to help road safety before a sentance was passed?

Remanded in custody for a month pending sentencing. Good or bad? Hopefully it'll mean a lengthy sentence.

Drunk. Careless Driving. Failure to stop at the scene of an accident. Lying about all of that (perverting the course of justice). All serious enough in themselves, and displaying willful contempt for the law. Top it off with killing the poor bloke and she sounds like a right sweetheart.

She even states on her petition that "he had flashing lights". So she fking saw him, or damned well should have. Hlemet and Hi-Viz ain't gonna help if you're too drunk and stupid to avoid a cyclist drawing attention to himself by means of flashing lights. I hope she gets put away for a good long time, and comes out to a lifetime driving ban. Someone should shove her petition, and all 15 of the dozy idiots who signed it, up 'er 'arris.

That too - I was thinking of the classic definition of the man who pleads for clemency for murdering his parents on the grounds that he is an orphan.

I suspect she lives in a dream world and probably doesn't think she is any worse than 50:50 at fault. Her admission of guilt is more likely the result of taking advice than putting the petition up to look caring.
