Enjoyed the show although found the sales stands a bit busy if you wanted to purchase..picked up a Manfrotto 055pro tripod and 3 way head though. Only £10 saving but happy with the purchase nevertheless. Nice to be able to compare all the tripods on the Manfrotto stand before going off to buy...Andy Rouses presentation on their stand was both interesting and humourous if you are into wildlife.
Also found a great motorsport photgraphy book..'motorsport photgraphy' by Tony Pleavin. £24.00 only just published. Visit the GMC book stand S1.
Did anyone try the demonstration camera's on the canon stand ?? Couldn't believe the frame rate on the 1D mk 2. 8+fps- just held the button down for a few seconds and took 20 + pictures..Amazing compared to my 10D. The new 350 was nice and light too and seams to be a worthy replacement for the 300D!!

Go on, you know you want to tell us...
John...well somehow I managed to get the bit of kit you know I was after...well not physically, pick it up from the Dealer tomorrow. Considering the first release had dealers unable to fulfill pre-orders and with an estimated wait of 6-8 weeks for the next release methinks I did quite well. However until I have it in my hands I am not going to count my chickens.

8.5fps actually
And it still amazes me 2 years on.....Scooby_snax said:D2X? I was surprised to see a whole pile of Canon 1Ds II at one of the stores, so it seems that people were taking stock to the show instead of filling order books.

I thought the show was great - no great bargains to be had, but seeing a demo of the Hasselblad H1D was very impressive, and I also found it very useful to see examples of different printer paper/ink combinations and also get a few sample prints done from my own CF card.
Well, there are a couple of Epson papers (Ultrasmooth Fine Art and Premium Glossy Photo) that I'm going to order to try for myself, and I also picked up a trial selection pack of Permajet paper which looked very good. I also picked up some Tetanal A4 canvas sheets. The Lyson inks and papers looked very impressive as well, but I figured I had enough to be getting along with so gave these a miss.
It's probably going to take me a whole day to get all my test prints done, but I'm looking forward to seeing how the canvas comes out. I've decided that an Epson 4000 or 7600 is a must have at some point in the future though - even A3 prints from my 2100 look tiny in comparison!
Also had a play with a few of the mini printers, and really liked the Hi-Ti 730PS - the prints are so durable that they had one sitting in a glass of Cola with no adverse effects!

Went today.
Spent too much money on the Tetenal stand (that Aquarell paper is something else!!!) and also picked up a Colour Spyder and am happily calibrating monitors at the moment - the difference is stunning.
Interesting stuff, a lot of beardy wierdies and nerds. A surprising number of people walking around with their cameras round their necks!!!
Not too many stores to buy from, though Jacobs was doing a roaring trade, though I am not surprised as they had some good prices - picked up and IXUS 40 for my dad's birthday for £199, cheaper than 7dayshop and a UK model...
Interesting PShop seminars on the Adobe stand, a good bookstall and a very amusing lecture by Chris Packham on the LowePro stand- enjoyed that!
Canon stand was swamped with people fiddling with bodies (don't really see the point) and lenses...
Will definitely go next year, interesting to see evertying that is out there. Nice for example to go and see ALL the tripods that Manfrotto or Gitzo have, rather than just play with the 2 or 3 available in your highstreet store.

Yip it was a D2X and now actually have it...battery charging.
Well I didnt have my name on a waiting list or pre-ordered just happened...by luck...to speak to the right person ..I believe the next stock to the shops will be 6-8 weeks time.
I thought some of the flash card deals were pretty good at the show after some deliberation went for 2x 2GB Lexar but as I use the Smartdisk as well I think that should cover my location shooting
