Door entry systems - Card swipe
Discussion
Hi All
I need to find out about door entry systems that use a swipe card (or RFID) that I can install myself if possible.
I would need to be the administrator and issue or rescind cards as necessary, as well as monitor the comings and goings on a weekly basis.
The whole system would need to be able to stand up to an "audit trail" too, as the customer deals with sensitive data.
Can anyone recommend me a system as a starting point please?
Many thanks.

Look at Paxton stuff, particularly the Net2 range. You can use biometric sensors on their systems such as fingerprint sensors or retinal scanners as well as many other kinds of sensors, swipe cards, RF tags, keypads etc.
Have a look at Pac(If they still exist) or Paxton. I'd avoid any type of "card" with a magnetic strip people loose them and they can be a pain if the reader gets dirty.
Kantech systems are ok. they have either fobs for your keyring or ID card type fobs that can have a photo added to them.
All of the above have audit trails.
Pazton even has the facility to bar entry after certain times (ie weekends or out of hours)
Can be installed yourself but they'd be no use for insurance purposes unless installed by an approved supplier. Don't forget linking into a fire system so that doors fail to open if the alarm goes off.
you'd also need to have some kind of fail system so that if the press to exit button fails people can still get out (a break glass switch)
