New battery

My old battery wasn't cranking the engine over in the sub-zero temperatures we've been having, so I decided it was time for a replacement.

Always looking for the opportunity to upgrade, I purchased an AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) battery from www.barden-uk.com. The guy I dealt with there was very helpful (Phil Smith) when I explained what I was looking for.

These batteries cost more (mine was £135) but are lighter and smaller than standard. Check out the difference, my original battery is on the left.



The original battery weighed 18kg, the new one 10kg.

Does the height of the unit not hold it in place? I cant remember!

It does, so I'm going to have to hold it in another way (not quite sure how yet).

Put some appropriately sized blocks of wood under it? I know ideally you would have it at the bottom to keep the COG low, but that leaves problems getting to the terminals

I just got an optima yellow top - power boat battery - top stuff with 750 cca. That gets it started in the morning! Slotted straight in, better fit than original.
