Hi Mike,
Can i ask what you are having done? I've had a few bits & pieces![]()
actually lots
im having a h404 cam, lifters and springs, top half of inlet manifold ported(tvr have already done the bottom half on the 5.0l cars),45mm trumpets in the plenum,72mm throttle plenum and increased fuel pressure along with the final set up.was also going to have compression to 10.5:1 and pre-cats removed, but after a lengthy discussion with shaun ive put this on hold for now until phase 2 possibly

Hi Mongoose, do you know how much the 45mm trumpets are? And do they sell them as a DIY fitment aswell?
Also what's the H404 like at idle, does it sound rattly at all? I'm about to buy a new cam and at the moment the MC2 is my choice, I really don't want to ruin the low speed running sound because it's a part of the car that I love

David H said:hello David,i cant recall the exact amount the 45mm trumpets cost(about £195 with the base i think),and dont have my pricelist to hand sorry.i didnt ask weather they supply as a diy fit but id have thought so.the h404 cam is just a hydraulic version of the p404 and superseeds the mc1 and mc2 cams apparently.the total power output on the h404 is much the same as the p404,but due to the different ramp angle to allow the h404 to use hydraulic lifters, the torque curve starts slightly later thats all.if you want the low maintainance and dont want the regular tappet checking/adjustment then its a very small price to pay-for me a "no brainer" as they say!dont want to turn my v8 into a speed 6

.have a chat to shaun or ray at v8d about it.Thanks for the info, i'll give them a ring and have a chat about this soon.
I'm not really looking for big power gains, it's just that while i'm rebuilding the engine and replacing the cam anyway I may aswell try and improve on things if and where possible.
Thanks again, I look forward to hearing about it when you
get it back

404H...FABULOUS CAM!
had the p404 too, and the H looses little whilst being maintenance free! I had to set the p404 every 5-800miles whereas my H still sounds great after 300 track/road miles.
echo all the V8D "nice guys" bit.
easy to deal with, and resonable too!
hard to believe you could find better!

this is exactly what the thinking was behind these mods, the trumpets and manifold are labour free if you like as there removed for the cam anyway and this cam really benefits from the extra breathing.one thing that really impressed about shaun and ray was there honest approach and advice they give so you dont waste your money on bits thatll have no gain with the set up you choose.some companies just want as much money from you as they can get and dont care that youll never no youve wasted a lot of it.ill post the effects of their work on sat night when i get the car home

well,as promised i thought id let you know how i got on collecting the car today.its absolutely bl
dy fantastic

.the power and free reving characteristics are superb.my big worry was how driveable it would be around town,i needn't have worried.it idles lumpier with a much more purposefull sound from the greater induction(sounds fab)but pulling away without stalling is still very easy,as you go up through the gears the response is much more crisp and urgent and the power doesnt drop off as early as it used to,id say its increased the usefull rev range by about 500rpm.in short its does exactly as promised by shaun and ray and id recommend it to anyone.im one very very happy bunny
.incidently, its worth mentioning that i didnt have the 72mm plenum fitted as this was tried, but found to give only a little more top end at the expense of lowering the mid range with my current set up,so its on hold until phase II,when ill be re-mapping with either omex or M.A. tornado, depending on other mods-oooh ive got the bug now
total cost £1065 plus vat, power output around 300-310bhp and 340ft/lb torque.these are shauns honest unexagerated estimated figures based on the many theyve done before.ive seen taraka graphs on here and the flywheel figures are well below that-so imo its seriously good value.a big
