So....... which is the better option, hi spec C2 or lower spec C4?. I have had various rear wheel drives for 10 year or more so I'm used to RWD, but I"m a sweet innocent 911 virgin, so a bit fearful of winter handling. Your specialist advice very much appreciated.......

I've done a lot of reading on the same subject, and the answer seems to be to buy the best car you can find, and not to worry about the drivetrain unless you intend to spend a lot of time on the track, in which case C2 is probably a better bet.

I know its the 'bleedin obvious answer, but drive them both, then decide.

You'll probably find you wont want to drive it too hard in the bad weather, so the C2 in bad weather wont be too much of a problem.

Buy to enjoy, not to worry about!

Maybe I'm missing somethine but which model are you after? If it's a 964 you'll probably want to avoid a C4, but a 993 or 996 uses a different 4wd system.

From my little knowledge so far, you won't realy notice the difference on the road unless pushing hard , even then you'll have to be a confident driver!..

I've def. noticed the 4wd in current weather.

As for pricing, you don't really see alot of C4's (I take for granted 996) for sale for some reason, from memory they were around £4/5k more when new, pricing now seems to add 2/3k, but I think thats more cheek than worth as most buyers are that bothered.

As above, concentrate on spec. if thats important, as a low spec 996 will drive the same as a high spec one, its just nice to have a few toys...
