I sold a bunch of separate Sega Megadrive games a couple of weeks ago. One I sold went to someone in London for £12 plus P+P, £2.70 with myhermes.

The parcel arrived exactly 7 days ago, and today I receive a message: "The package arrived in a very sorry state with the box protruding from the packaging. I have played the game and it seems to work fine but some of the plastic of the box which holds the cartridge in place has broken off which is a real shame because I liked how well looked after and pristine they looked in the photos on the listing."

There are 4 pictures, which clearly show the A4 envelope I used torn at the base, but the bubble wrap around the case intact. The pictures are otherwise useless as they are so small - certainly impossible to see if the black case is broken. Because I used myhermes I am covered for £25 of insurance.

I've had no complaints from the other 5 recipients of these games.

How would you play this? He's not even asked for a refund confused

As above, you cant respond to a request you have not had.
Although a reply along the lines of "thanks for letting me know i wont be using Hermes again etc etc" might be appreciated by the buyer

Actually laughed out loud at that.

Which was a touch embarrassing as I'm at the pub. Oh well.

If the images were sent through eBay they have a stupid compression system which resizes and destroys the image quality rendering them next to impossible to see and about the size of a postage stamp.

Get the buyer to email or text them to you directly.

Don't respond. I've had people fishing for a refund before like this. They are just seeing if you bite and then will start asking for refund/ pay postage costs etc
Stay quiet, don't volunteer anything. There is a process for them to complain via Ebay if they want to.
