Any dentists? Is this an infection after tooth extraction?

Hi

Had a lower molar taken out on Tuesday afternoon. It is still painful, and I'm wondering if it's infected.

Not sure what it's supposed to look like. Hopefully I'm just being a wuss.

Its a bit difficult to really tell from photographs, but the edges of the gum looks red and inflammed.

I would see if you can get an appointment today, I cant say for sure but it looks like a case of dry socket (alveolar ostetiis). More or less an infection of the bone that used to surround the tooth. Its pretty painful, would be worth rinsing the socket out and putting in a dressing.
