power steering miracle additives ?

got a slight notchy feel to the pas on our focus when its cold , ive replaced the pas oil with new stuff of the correct grade and its staying clean

i think i know the answer but are any of the additives worth trying at all?

Check the swivel joint on that goes from the Base of the steering column to the top of the power steering rack.

The bearings in them can corrode/disintegrate which gives a notchy feeling.

thanks will have a look , is that in the engine bay or inside near the pedals?

I can't remember on those but there could be two, one near the pedal and one the other side of the bulkhead.

I usually spray a st load of wd40 on them whilst turning the wheel lock to lock and see if improves.

It could be an issue with the rack itself but without feeling it its hard to point you in the right direction !

If you Jack the wheels up and turn the steering it is usually the same notchy feeling if is the joint but feels a bit better if it is the rack.
