Bought some improved brakes, info please

In an effort to improve the brakes of my 4.3 Griffith I bought a pair of calipers, discs, and pads from a member of our Dutch TVR club, former clubpresident Hans Hardy. Some of you wil have met him, or members of the Hardy "clan" on Zolder.
He thinks the brakes are from a Ford Sierra Cosworth, I'm not so sure. The dimensions of the discs are, 260 x 24.2 x 22.8 mm. They are from ATE, type Power Discs.
The calipers look exactly like the standard (4.3 with 240 mm discs) Griffith calipers only a bit bigger. If you compare the size of the pads they have about 25 % more pad material. The piston is also bigger.

I'm guessing these are about the same as standard 500 brakes, can anyone confirm this.
It's just to satisfy my "wanna know all about car" nature, the brakes are a definate improvement according to Hans, he raced on Zolder with the original brakes and this improved set, at least a 200 % improvement he thinks.
So it's of to a braided hoses supplier to get a pair to change them also while fitting the (new) improved brakes.

These sound like escort cosworth brakes, the sierra cosworth are 278mm or 283mm.
I have had to do some investigation lately on these items for the metro V6 turbo project and 260mm were fitted to Mk5/6 escorts with the bigger engines 1.8 16v and RS2000 (2.0 16v) and escort cosworth.
I can confirm that standard 500 discs are 260mm.
I am currently looking for some sierra cosworth calipers to do an upgrade to my 500.

Sounds like you have a set of the later calipers and discs. They are not Cosworth though.
Check that the calipers have a larger diameter piston and comes complete with brackets.The lot should just bolt on.
I used to sell a new later size disc and caliper kit with uprated pads but at £300 it wasn't really worth the hassle.
I'd be interested in knowing what people would expect to pay for an upgrade of this type.
