997 engine new rebuilt
Discussion
would a 997 with a new engine fitted by Porsche to a 2005 car in 2010 be a gen 2 engine and therefore a safe buy?
and is a Hartech rebuild cylinders 4 5 & 6 be a sensible buy or stay clear.
I've read all the IMS bore score on here and on the web its a nightmare. Would like a 997 Carrera S for weekends etc
Thanks guys

As said, a Gen 1 engine will be replaced with another gen 1 engine.
If the Hartech rebuild only replaced one bank of cylinder liners, then clearly it was not a full rebuild and thus, the other liners in the opposite bank could score at anytime. That said, it would be less of a risk than purchasing one that hadn't had any Hartech liners fitted at all. Also, the risk of scoring is further minimised as the bank that has the new liners is the most prone to this problem.
