I had a lower evidential sample of 185 once. The bloke was still able to walk and converse with us.

Couldn't tell the left side of the A6 from the right side though...

Wait wait wait. The Fail says a 319 reading is four times the limit, yet the other rag states 203 is six times it, or am I missing something?! confused

Thats 319 in blood. The limit in blood is 80, whereas the limit in breath is 35.

319 in blood is the equivalent of about 140 in breath.

232 here - elderly bloke had been an alcoholic for years PTSD from his army days in Malaya- never been caught driving. Saw his car outside the local chippie one evening - followed and stopped - blew 232.

The highest ive had was 158. That was from a barristers wife on the way to pick up her kids from school.
As i walked towards her car she was tipping perfume over the dashboard in an attempt to hide the smell.

So this is the equivalent of downing 6 pints in a few minutes and then getting straight in the car for a little journey?

I would say it's more being an alohclic, I've seen some high levels (100+) and I generally believed they would blow under at the station.

Highest I've seen is 135, she had just been to McDonald's with her son. It was quite scary really.

I had a bottle and a half of wine, couple of gin and tonics and a few vodka shots and tried a breathalyser which admittedly wasn't a genuine police one. It was a while ago but IIRC I blew around 140, so people blowing 200+ must be serious alcoholics who can easily drink amounts that would have me passed out on the floor.

Someone who can down 6 pints in a few minutes and then can contemplate driving is a total & utter

Very high readings (120+ in breath) usually means drinking spirits or wine, and it helps to be an alcoholic. My PB is 165 in breath - from drinking wine. 2nd highest was 150 from drinking a bottle of vodka - found empty on the passenger seat - driver asleep on the motorway.

I know blokes that can drink 10 pints (5 times the limit?) and still be quite coherent and walk in a straight line. I wouldn't get in a car with them but they would be nowhere near my idea of paralytic.

As for me, I'm wobbly after a bag of wine gums.

Just think - if she'd been in Scotland she would have been more than 9 times over the limit!
