Escort MK4 Rear Light Conversion

I felt that the 'amber' repeaters etc just looked a little outdated, so i declared war on them! Last year i already changed side repeaters & front indicators to a clear type, so ive found myself constantly looking at the bog standard factory fitted escort mk4 rear lights..

Now after getting involved in a £99 bidding war, i ended up with these (yes not too different than the originals but the clear indicator bit makes all the difference to me)


No gaskets were on my originals which was strange, just siliconed on.. I did order some gaskets but there way too thick & on tightening up one side ended up pulling the screw & plastic out of the fitting great! Ended up making my own gasket with a thinner foam so it fits back easier but still a water tight seal


One side in & looks neat, still waiting for the gorilla glue to go off hopefully be strong enough to attempt to fix the other side in without pulling the fitting out (again), may bond it in for extra strength if it fails but hey nearly there

• UPDATE*

both sides fitted fairly tight with homemade gaskets, so far so good, may just silicon seal the indicator edge to tidy up the small gap thats there & off to halfords for two amber bulbs for the indicators before i take it for a spin

well i did manage to find out to amber ones out in the garage but i think these will have to get ordered now, got some osram ones in my side repeaters which are pretty bright.

P.S may come & pick up that wheel cover this evening if your not busy, im just out the front trying to get my S working again now (idle issues.. sigh)

Some amber bulbs have off-set pins Yours need to be opposite (six and twelve o'clock)
