So there we are three cars in a ll of us row, me leading in the XKSS an Alpine next and a Djet bringing up the rear, all running merrily at about 70 when suddenly the car coughs, splutters and won't accelerate at all. This lasted for a short while then cleared. But when we parked up it wasn't just me but all of us had had the same problem. It was in the middle of nowhere, no pylons and no funny fellah on a bike above us. Wonder what caused it?

Maybe you all drove through an invisible gas pocket of some kind.

Had you all filled up at the same place beforehand?

Clutching at straws but if it was exactly the same place could you have passed under a high voltage cable / beside an electricity substation which might of interfered with your ignition systems?

I was awaiting the usual flaming but no, it was right in the middle of the countryside, an area I pass quite often with the car (on the way to the Hotel de France!) and no we hadn't filled up at the same place. Anyway, even if we had it wouldn't provoke misfires for about half a mile and all of us at the same time. Just one of those mysteries I guess.

Tony, it may be a military microwave link causing this. As suggested above, re-drive the route and also check for mobile phone connectivity. Military microwaves, subject to transmission power levels, can cause all sorts of interesting anomalies.

Hell, I've been microwaved? That leaves even more less brain power. Actually I reckon the car has done that run at least 100 times over the years. It's the run to the Hotel de France from my house, yet never a problem previously. And the same Lumenition all the time.
