How I spent my pension, Maserati 4200 newly re-sprayed

For those that don't know my 4200 wasn't bad but it had a number of imperfections, body damage and some rust
I was recommended a coachworks in Portsmouth so I took it down
This is the result, I'm blown away by the quality of the work which included the badly kerbed wheels
If you want paintwork doing it's well worth the trip to Portsmouth, Phill is a professional with a keen eye for detail, he only works one way, it's right or it doesn't get done.
He doesn't fill rust so the section round the rear lights was cut out as was the bottom of the rear arches, passenger door had damage and the aerial hole was a mess so that's gone completely
it was a 500 mile round trip for me and I'd do it again without hesitation if I needed anything else painting

I'd love to put titanium bolts on it but a respray wheel refurb and 4 pilot sport 4s fitted today and I'm spent up so it's going to be getting covers
The PS4s have also transformed the handling more than any car I've ever owned , it tramlines really badly before but after the difference is amazing

They can be converted to 3200 lights (It's not a cheap conversion though!)I'd also have to say that for some reason, the 3200 "boomerang" tail lights make the rear of the car look a bit depressed to Me, as if the car is loosing the will to live! (in some ways they remind Me of Marvin - The paranoid android from the original TV Hitch-hikers Guide To The Universe!)
(Mind you, the standard 4200 lights look like they could have come off a rover!

The company that did it was VRC Coachworks in Waterlooville Hants, he wanted an exotic to see what was involved and whether they were any more difficult than a normal car so did me a very good price as it was a learning curve for him , turns out it was a lot more work than he thought it'd be but part of that was his perfectionism
We agreed he wouldn't remove the nose but did anyway because it wouldn't have been right to paint it with it on , that added 5 hours off and 5 hours on
Bottom line was he said he'd want £3500 to do another one which I still think is cheap for the quality of the job, even close up it really does look like a new car , no ,better than a new car.
I get nothing out of recommending him but I'd happily go back if I had another to be painted

Looks like I've given my occupation away now - doh!Been speaking to my pension people this morning - that looks tempting although as previous posts it'd have to be the earlier rear lights for me too.
BTW if the job's as good as it looks £3.5K is a very good price - I'd bite his arm off at that!
