Boris Flim Flam has stated 'its in order to further reduce the road deathtoll'

Im just not seeing it. I travel this road on a regular basis. I leave home North London at 5.15am to arrive in West London 30 minutes later. A cheeky relax at the house in Chiswick and then to work. Very little traffic and the ability to make progress safely-brilliant. But, you run the gauntlet of the A Cams.

On the way home back to North London, around 8.30-9.00pm, the traffic is an absolute nightmare. On a good day, 1 hour, on a bad day (and there are many of those) 2.5 hours....for a 14 mile journey. Total tomfukery. I despair of the journey sometimes and simply stay in West London. No possibly of ever going over the average speed, but fook me, ive seen better driving in Karachi.

Furthermore, both TFL and the Mayors Office have failed to release any accurate information as to when and where the system goes fully live. Cynical or what?

The speed cameras have gone though. Not making enough money?

Or, should I just move out of London and find some lovely country roads?

The point is too make money. Just like the ones on the A40 and the A316. Of course the usual suspects will be along shortly to tell us otherwise. They have fk all effect on safety, just add time to ones journey.

Have they actually gone live yet? I noticed the average speed cameras and signs are all up so haven't been taking risks, and most other people also seem to be plodding along at 40/50mph.

Or is this the small window of opportunity when the old speed cameras have come down and the new average speed ones aren't live yet?? biggrin

Do the same journey as the OP regularly and see lots of driving that worries me, none of it usually speed related.

Thanks thumbup is there a public notification anywhere or just that you know because of the job? The big dot matrix signs have gone up advising 'average speed camera zone'. So can we assume that all of the press reports from tfl that 100's of people done by these cameras over Xmas and new year was absolute lies?

Big dot matrix signs along that stretch of the North Circ. Though, on reflection, I think they actually mentioned the 13th. That would be next Monday. It seems that most are sticking to the new average speeds already. Interestingly, the average changes by IKEA from 40 to 50 or vice versa dependent on direction of travel.

Eta: the camera gantry lights are on. So they may already be active but not officially in use......

What is very distasteful though, is that it isn't a straightforward zone. How do they measure the average? If you're waiting at the lights at IKEA, there is no way you could go over average before entering the 50. There seems to be 3 separate measured zones, rather than a continuos one.
