Anybody own the Xbone and a ps4??
Discussion
As the title says, do any PHer's own both consoles? To acknowledge the twelfth month of separation from the estranged wife, I am wanting to have a ps4 sitting next to my xbox one.
Q is, what games are best suited to which console? Is gta 5 better on the playstation or??
I know it is possible to connect the ps4 via the HDMI pass through on the xbox but is it comparable to being directly connected to the tv? Is there any noticeable lag??
Lastly, which ps4 should I purchase? A local high street shop has the 500Gb for £180 and the 1Tb for an extra tenner..
Thanks for any advice ✌

Right now I'd hold off buying until Sony releases this new PlayStation 4.5
That's a lot of rumour at the moment and you could be waiting a while, I purchased a PS4 the other week after waiting for the last 6months for a newer version. The 4.5 is also rumoured to be 4K which if true will be a lot more expensive so I doubt it will alter the price of the current models. As the op is buying secondhand by the look of the price the key thing is the version. There's a newer quieter version (I don't know what the old version is like but mine I hear a disc spin up for a few seconds and that's all I hear every now and again) and that product code is CUH-1200 so look for that.

I have neither, but from what i know the HDMI passthrough on the X1 does introduce noticeable lag, i wouldnt bother with it.Lastly, which ps4 should I purchase? A local high street shop has the 500Gb for £180 and the 1Tb for an extra tenner..
And an extra 500gb for a tenner sounds like a good plan, with mandatory installs etc these days space doesnt last long.
As for games, it is a case-by-case basis which console handles the multiplatforms better, the PS4 is more powerful, BUT in some cases the compromises made on the X1 will make it run smoother then the PS4 version. Otherwise it comes down to whether you want to play online, and what your friends have.
Get the 1TB.
I have the 500Gb PS4 and find myself only able to install 9-10 games. I will be changing to a 2TB drive soon.
It is absolutely no dispute that games generally run better and look better on the PS4.
The Xb1 plays a lot of games at 900p where as the PS4 will do full 1080p. Frame rate comparisons are often in the PS4's favour as well.
I think the Xbox is perhaps a better "media" platform but I prefer the PS4 personally for games.

The newer 500GBs have a newer CPU (smaller manufacturing process) so run quieter and use less power. I believe the 1TB haven't been updated with this.
As such, if you're going to upgrade the drive at a later date, you may find the 500GB offers a slightly quieter life (seems a fitting tribute to the 12 month anniversary too

I have both, many for exclusives and I had a few holiday euros to spend after a trip away.
I've always been an xbox guy but the PS4 does have it's advantages. The main one being that if you put a disc into the console you get to play a game, none of the 2+ hours of installing you get with the xbox!

Noted, thanks for the replies peeps, appreciated. I am indeed buying a pre-owned. Is the 4.5 codenamed "neo" ?? Makes no odds to me as I don't have a 4k TV.
I always preferred playstation but thought I'd try out xbox. I have just bought fallout 4 (not played any of the previous installments) and the graphics are a bit... Meh.. Am I expecting to much?? Don't seem all that different from say red dead redemption.
I do love the way I can instantly flip from game to youtube and back in seconds.. Can the ps do that? (as for a pc, I banned myself from pc gaming due to the constant upgrading and the fact it is far too addictive and consuming, nearly 2 thousand hours on bf2😱)
500Gb it is.. Cheers again 😃

Fallout 4 is a really trashy looking game. The graphics are as shoddy as the gameplay is dull.As for the consoles, you'll play more on whatever your mates play. I have an Xbox One and a PS4. I probably play the Xbox about 80% of the time. They are so similar that unless you specifically want a game not available on the other console (Bloodborne or Scalebound for instance), I wouldn't bother getting both. I love having both but then gaming is my favourite hobby.
