Had the Cerb serviced at TVR Power on Friday and they checked the suspension settings only to find that they were well out. The engineer said it has the best combination of ride and handling of any Cerb he had ever driven so he assumed that it had been set up by someone who knew what they were doing and so left the settings as they were.
Also had the Nautilus airhorns fitted to help let people know I am there. They certainly work as advertised..
Now to the point of my post. TVR power do Red Rose upgrades, part of which is new Eproms to change the engine management settings. They will sell these Eproms on their own for just £75 to fit to a non Red Rose car and they say it does make a difference. I was wondering if anyone here has tried this.

I had an upgraded chip fitted to my car a while ago. It makes it a little better round town, but I've heard the results are better on 4.5s.

Had one done by Dom a couple of weeks ago. I have a 1999, and Henly upgraded it to a 2002/2003 chip (10 quid or so), and made no noticable difference at all. The RR chip on the otherhand has made a difference making the overall acceleration significantly smoother. I was hoping it would solve a small pinging issue I have when pulling off, but unfortunatly it hasn't.

Im still in two minds. I really like the smoothness of the accelleration (oh and seemingly the inclreased pops and bangs on overrun), but did enjoy the violent kick in the pants at 3.5K the last chip provided.

There is also the added benefit with the RR chip - The 95 octane switch. Probably will never get used, however the thought of being in the middle of nowhere with no optimax in site, its is an attractive upgrade!

a customer of mine had the RR chip fitted to his std 4.5 and on nobles rollers it made less power than before by some margin .. TVR power to their credit refunded the cost of the chip and he now has the old version back in. It seems to work in some but not in others ..

I think that would agree with my findings. Nope the switch is an extra price. Checkout the other thread "red rose???" for individual prices.

Given the Red Rose chip is for a modified from standard engine, isn't this a bad idea?

Does it work on a 4.2?

You definitely can't use a 4.5 chip in a 4.2. They have very different fuel injectors, and very different fuelling requirements.

It would run, but in a very similar way to a Trabant on Parafin.....

Although if you go to the "4.2/4.5 engine upgrade" part of the TVR power website at www.tvrpower.co.uk/ajp.engine.only.php it includes:
MOD EPROM £75.00
