Big thanks to Max from Vegantune who sorted out a few minor niggles with the car at Mallory Park yesterday. Introduced himself and was more than happy to help out with anything that might go wrong - the sort of excellent customer relations that bring's in customers.
Great day at Mallory -first time I'd done this cicuit. Small (1.3miles)but with 'big' circuit corners -weird. Nice to see 3 Nobles there (2 M400s and my 3R). Even with pretty slippery conditions we were kicking 4wd Scoobie ass round Gerards (longest right hander in UK - about half the circuit distance!)

Rob,

I was one of the M400's. At one point there were all three of us in a line - the guys at the hairpin that were taking photos must have had a whale of a time!

There was absolutly nothing that could touch any of us, even with the serious amount of water on the track. However, towards the end the standing water was just too much for the Corsa's on my M400, so I bailed out.

Great day - the two M400's were on the tracksense driver training day - although the way you were driving that 3R you clearly need the 'advanced' course

The legendary Joust.. and I didn't get a chance to make introductions! I did manage to grab a few words with Richard (t' other M400 pilot. Never mind, must make sure we meet up at Rockingham on 20th.
Had a friend there contemplating joining the track day scene with his Griff 500 (v. brave man(!))who said it was truely an awesome sight when the 3 Nobles were on that charge together. I was getting low on fuel (down to 1/4 tank) and tread so had to call it a day, but with wipers going at double speed and still not being able to clear the windscreen, it was time to PUFO anyway.
Do you recall who was taking the piccies? With that ridiculous hourly escape routine from the centre of the track I had to high-tail it promptly at 3.30 without getting a look at what was on offer. Mr PicMan?

Nice to meet you both yesterday.

Rob: sorry I didn't get a chance to see how you were getting on with that problem but glad to see you back on the track later on. Very good of the Vegatune chap to help out - top marks!

J: thanks for the silver paper tip!

The tracksense course was pretty good - makes you think about what you're doing! I'll ask Stephen from tracksense if he can get hold of some pictures of the three of us at the hairpin; could be a nice pic even though I've a feeling that I was the one in front holding up proceedings!

Oh and thanks to the various people on this forum who recommended Rain-X , it helped a lot.

Sorry! I was mainly either out on track or in the classroom, so didn't have time to speak to anyone there that was just on the track day.

I was having great fun. It was interesting the difference between the 3R and the M400. You were getting much better traction away from the hairpin (way too much power available in 2nd on the M400), but there was a clear marked difference in the acceleration - I was often finding myself backing off chasing you down the straights as I was gaining on you too quickly!

No - I never was with the track day people so I don't have a clue. There was a whole gaggle of them though on that bank though when we were charging through so hopefully someone will post some up?

J

Edited to add: Yes - the whole getting out of the track was a real pain - what a farce!

I was driving my white EVO VIII MR RS and didn't see any Nobles kicking my arse!!!

Only joking, decided not to bring my Noble due to the weather, quite glad as the EVO was suberb and I really enjoy Mallory.

Blimey -a right gaggle of PHers there!! Don't recall the EVOVIII, obviously the Nobles were too far out in front (we would say); or EVOVIII was too far out in front (you would say). Whatever -it was a hoot.
J - yeah, you had a serious turn of speed on the straights there. Those extra horses were not just sitting around.

If you go to www.reillystudios.co.uk/mallory you should be able to view all the pictures.

Out of interest how fast did you both manage down the main straight, I got the EVO up to 130MPH before hitting the brakes....no ABS but I've just had some 6 pot AP's fitted and they are suberb, could do with them on my Noble!

Cheers

To be honest I wasn't really watching, but around 120-125 AFAIK.

However, I was there on a driver training course, so more emphasis was placed on smooth driving rather than outright speed.

Anyone know what the black Porsche was with the four tailpipes, it took me 2 laps to real it in and pass it - something not standard about that me thinks

Same here -very rarely look at speedo when driving on the track, other than temp and fuel only the rev counter gets a glance. Also most speedo's are pretty inaccurate esp at higher speeds. So camparisons across cars probably won't mean a great deal.
Havn't seen the porker before - but my experience is that most cars attendiing track-days are tweaked to varying degrees! Having said that my 3R is 'bog- standard' without even so much as a bulb-upgrade - a great testament to Noble, sans doubt.

I couldn't find a picture of the three Nobles (with me holding up the other two) so Rob, just to make sure you're not being missed out (and of course because it's a popular colour) ...
