I've been a regular cyclist for a while now with no issues at all. This weekend on my first MTB century, I suffered almost unbearable pain on the back of my leg behind my left knee. I had to pedal 10 - 15 miles using mainly 1 leg. I could pull up with the painful leg but not push down on the pedals. I adopted rule 5 and made it to the pub stop where I intended phoning for a lift. What followed was a pint of Guinness and 10 minutes later the pain had all but gone and I was back at the front of the group. Weird. Just wondered if the pain was a common thing and maybe the alcohol relaxed something. Guinness is good for you smile

OverUse - Did yo build up to 100 miles?
Deskjob?
Position/saddle too high or back?

Ive highed my saddle and changed my bike position due to knee pain and now feel my hamstrings twitching

Could just be sudden over use

The human body is a strange thing, especially early in the year.

Hmm, saddle height, you may be on to something there. I have 4 bikes at the moment but wanted to use the MTB for the long one. Normally the saddle height on this is a little lower than the road bike and I've had no issues. However, I thought as this was a longer ride with not much offroad I'd raise the saddle by about 10mm to make the height more like the other bikes...I'll put it back down and try again in a while.
