So that's what all the fuss is about.....

Just a note to say Hi!
Have dreamed about owning a Tuscan for a while now, and have had a few test drives, but wasn't really blown away (something was always there to spoil the experience; be it 'inconsistent' handling/tramlining, rattles, smoky engine, take your pick).
Then there's the unreliability issues picked from this very site. And the 'you don't really want one of those?!' quips from the missus. I have to admit, I wasn't totally sure I did.
UNTIL NOW THAT IS! Just got back from a test drive in a 'properly sorted' Tusc. with a suitable nutcase behind the wheel.
I didn't actually drive, but the stability, the handling, the NOISE!! WOW!!!
The fact it comes with a HUGE folder of reciepts and a two year engine warrantee sealed the deal!
I just had to have it - don't know how J_S_G can feel the need to sell it, but I'm sure glad he is!!
Nothing to gripe about now except I have to wait for a couple of weeks 'till I can pick it up.
It's now six hours later and I'm still grinning like the proverbial cat from Cheshire!
This may be just the start of my relationship with the TIV, and I'm sure there's going to be downs as well as ups, but what the hell - you only live once!!

Well Neill - you'll probably be losing the power of speech for a few days/weeks!
I see you noted the most important thing in S/H Tuscan purchasing - history, histroy and history. But life's too short not too!
PS - did I miss anything? Has that J_S_G got his car up for sale yet........

All,
Please congratulate Nelly on his fine purchase. I have to admit, it was driving so nicely today (first day with dry roads in aaaaaages) that I was half tempted to send him packing at the point where we hit 1.4 speed units or so down the A52.
As well as congratulations, please look after him here; we all know what that first discernable rattle from under the bonnet does to our nerves, the first moment the back end twitches when you weren't expecting it and the accompanying wave of "I'm out of my depth here", along with that feeling of "I'm sure I saw that LED flicker", and so on.
Yup.
Next? Well, something with a few more creature comforts... en-suite bathroom and a nice driveway, for starters (I'm expecting the call from James with "one corner plot remaining" already
). Plus some dodgy off-roader to start doing up for rallying in next year.
Seriously, though, looking out of the window, and knowing that it's going to be gone imminently, I know that I can't do without SOMETHING special parked up ready & waiting. The Rover's fun, but it's not enough. Think I need to pull everything together into one car to justify having something fast & lush. So, current thoughts are (once job/house/etc. stuff is taken care of): pick up a cheap XKR and put some sports pipes & uprated suspension on it, or give in completely and get something chim_girl would approve of.
Will drop you a mail, anyway - figure it's about time we all had a couple of drinkies.
YHM. (Or you will have in 5 mins after I write it!)
Nelly, prepare for some looooong sleepless nights before you pick it up, accompanied by evenings spent gazing at the drive, willing it to appear there. Don't worry, that'll subside once you've got one, though. It will, however, be replaced by a good couple of weeks of wandering outside in the middle of the night to see if you REALLY have one and if it's REALLY parked on your drive.
Think I'll go and stand in a corner to think about what I've just done for a bit longer now...
