I keep seeing this a lot, people write something or other then state "TRUTH" or "FACT".....

Is this something that is now considered normal and if it is stated, that it is accurate? I find it fascinating that someone thinks they can post up a load of rubbish, then just put "fact/truth" and somehow we all go, oh yes of course that must be true then.....

Nailed it. hehe

From a message to an old friend today regarding the linkedin populace;

It is similar to the 'answer if your a genius' type questions.
95% of people answer incorrectly on a professional networking site without any consideration of the possibility that someone critical to their career may notice that they are actually stupid.
That same 95% has not bothered to check the previous 5 answers (different to theirs) and wonder; "how did they get that? Am I maybe wrong?".
Those questions don't identify genius, but they do accurately pinpoint stupidity and laziness.

And the other 5% post grumbles about how that sort of post is inappropriate for a "professional" site without noticing that LinkedIn has a "report post" function.

I've never had any luck with that actually working, even when supplying reliable proofs that the post is a complete fake or an out and out lie.
Though to be fair, a person who launched an abusive, foul language ridden personal attack on me did have their profile killed, and posts redacted from the thread.
A truly vile creature, who behaved as though she had forgotten she was on linkedin, not ttter.

ETA
I wasn't the one to report it as I felt it was more damaging to her, and the idiot she was supporting, than anything I could say in reply.

One of my ex work colleagues frequently talked about true facts as if there were untrue facts as well.

The truth is he was not being factual.

Lucky you.

One of my colleagues spouts utter dross, including facts. He will then even add, "I may have made that up".

The irony is that 'fact' is usually used at the end of a sentence in which there is nothing that remotely constitutes actual facts.

How many people start a sentence with:

To be honest
If I'm honest

As if the last the last time they opened their mouths they were just lying....

Ha, clearly an intelligent person and who therefore has some doubts. Or alternatively you might be absolutely certain this is not true!
