Worth joining the TVR Car Club?

Hi All

Looking at the insurance discount benefits of joining the TVR CC, has anyone actually experienced any discounts because of this?

I got the best quote for my Chim through AJ Manning in Henley (£300 cheaper than the next cheapest) and they required proof of my TVR CC membership, so it was worth the £40 just for that.

I'd ring up a few brokers first and check. I'd be surprised if they all operated like that: somebody has to pay for the discount, after all.

The club is worth joining just for the monthly mag IMO.

If you can afford a TVR I would'nt have thought £30 a year is to much out of the way . Go on join up or you'll never know what your missing.

i think youd be mad not to join up and give it a try.some like the club,some dont,but its a small price to find out.the club mag is a usefull resource in helping keep you enjoying the car i find.as for the insurance,i wouldnt join up purely for that.the club approved insures were cr4p with me,i was very very unhappy with them and found that when i asked on here about it,that many others had also had bad experiences with them.i found a quote cheaper elsewhere after anyway!you just have to have a good shop around.moral:join the club for what it really was formed for,not purely to save a few bob!best wishes and hope you enjoy it-mv

I didnt bother renewing this year. I liked sprint mag but it was a bit on the slim side and all the classifieds were well out of date by the time it arrived on my doorstep. It was also a bit lacking in technical articles too and I find PH much better for technical advice. I couldnt use Mannings because my wife didnt have enough mileage in performance cars so I didnt get the benefit of cheaper insurance. Personally I prefer to go to meets/events where I'll see lots of differet marques so I didnt attend many club events.

However, on the positive side: If you go to Le Mans then you'll recoup the membership fee in the reduced ticket prices available through the club. Also TVRCC track days are cheap and well organised. Finally the club memebers I have met from the D&C region were very friendly.

£30 isnt much, so I'd say go for it and see what you think.

I just let it go too. I liked the mag but it my view it all got a bit 'same old' and I couldn't see the point of renewing the subscription just for another mag. TVR is about driving, not looking at glossy pictures.

Yup. Nothing funny with that. I didnt find I got much out of it, but I can see why many people do, so my advice would be try it and see.
