Has anyone fitted these seals to their motor?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated...

I fitted them to my 500 two years ago and have had no issues, though it's only done 3500 miles in that time redface

Yup, fitted those guys about 3 months ago. Went from drinking almost a litre between fuel stops (3 of the old ones that came out were fubared...) to not a drop lost since then.

No issues so far me at all.

As your Griff is so early does it have these Valve seals or Washers?

I'm assuming you have the original valves too?

Cheers

I changed mine a while back.
Went from producing a smoke screen to not a puff after being parked for a week

You can do it without removing the heads.
I used compressed air (about 10psi) to keep the valves from falling into the cylinder and to allow the springs to be compressed to remove them.
A normal bsp(?) male airline fitting will screw into the plug hole and a flat rubber washer will give a good enough seal to stop most of the leakage.

It has the little cupped washers...These new seals don't fit over the top of the guides; the guides are bigger, or, the seal moves with the valve stem, up and down.!! confused

I suspect your heads will have the small rubber washers on the inlet valves only, rather than the blue one pictured above.

You will have to have different guides if you want to fit the blue ones or have your guides machined to accept them.

Yes, you're quite right.!! I only found 3 washers on valves, and 1 in the top of the head, kaput.!!...I didn't realise that the later guides were machined smaller at the top...Doh.!!!!!!!!!!

Just ordered the correct seals online...Thanks for all the responses Guys

Whatcast number are your heads?

HRC2210?

I thought HRC2210 had metal watshers on the Inlet only as standard.

I would be interested to know what rubber ones will fit standard valves without causing valve opening problems...

Mine were pretty much the same with most missing upon strip down. Makes me wonder if they are worth bothering with at all.

Anyway i did re fit when rebuilding, i wonder how many are still there. scratchchin

If you have double valve springs you will have to trim the rubber washers to clear the inner spring otherwise the inner spring will destroy them in no time at all.

Yes, my heads are HRC 2210...There were rubber seals fitted to mine, but shaped like cups; possibly from the inner springs.??

There is a Vauxhall stem seal that fits those earlier guides from the CIH engine IIRC

...so, whilst stripping the valves out of the second head, I find that the seals are on the EXHAUST valves...Well, 3 of them, anyway...
