Evening guys, noticed a very poor Cerb for sale in the classifieds. It's the one in need of a lot of work and has a Rover V8 in it.

Does anyone have any information on the car at all, know of any previous owners or history?

I've spoken briefly to the owner and I have a feeling it is going to be a complete money pit however that doesn't bother me since it's a keeper, I just don't want to be ripped off initially. I'm guessing it will have been a V8 originally, I'm not going to be too dead set on putting it back to standard and since I know the speed6 from owning a Tuscan, installing a power 4.3 could be a very good idea. Was there much difference in components parts, drive train, mounts etc for the V8 and speed 6
Cerbs?

Hope I can get some info on it so I can start talking money.

Cheers in advance.

The shells and chassis are different on the speed 6 and v8. There was a thread about this car a long time ago if I remember rightly. I'm pretty sure it's had some pretty extensive mods to fit the rover v8. I'm sure there was some chassis work involved. Would be a nightmare in my opinion. (And I'm trying to rebuild a damaged speed 6!)

I'd steer clear if it has a Rover V8 - not a desirable change for a Cerb even though it may add long term reliability.

My car, no chassis mods at all, T5 gearbox still there.

It was a 4.2 AJP, no idea why the engine was swapped, I would think cost when it went bang but guessing.

Defo not a engine choice now but 5/6 years ago was perhaps a resonable option, would not have been done for performance, the Dyno suggests 301 BHP, so very good for a Rover lump mind you.

Several offers, 6k best so far, overpriced maybe, its moted and driveable, not recorded at all. I have priced the value to me which may well never be aligned to a prospective buyer.

Regards

Nick

Sounds like reasonable value Nick and of course ideal as a project car. Good luck with the sale.
