How about it BiB? Appologies if it's been asked before. How is a man / woman to enjoy their performance motor on the road in 2005 without risk to others and license?

Cheers

Drive on roads you know very well, late at night or first thing in the morning. I regularly enjoy 'making progress' on the twisty roads near me, (practising some things they don't teach at Hendon!) Sheer bliss.....
I hate driving on roads when theres other traffic about. And i have no points on my licence.

Why anyone would consider doing 100+ on a straight bit of road they don't know is beyond me. How boring. Move to America if you just want massive speed on straight roads

Having said all that, i do get paid to drive fast cars every day Ohhh it's a tough job.....

Be totally aware that you are neither infallible nor immortal. Better drivers than you have killed themselves or others.

Absolutely. I attend countless accidents, and people who do crash through carelessness are rarely wearing their seatbelts. We sit in cars with big surround-sound stereo's, covered in airbags, sat in a big comfy seat. People have no reason to feel vulnerable. Some people forget that they are in control of a one ton killing machine. Either that or they didn't care in the first place....

My "tip" is; if its a blast youre going for, go alone.
Dont involve passengers in what may be your last drive.

Bloody hell guys! This is all getting very morbid. I accept and agree with your tips. I'm an Automotive Engineer that has spent many years working on airbags, seat belts and the crashworthiness of vehicle structures. So I know all the stats and what can happens in a crash. However, I had expected more of the "Roadcraft" and where and where not to type of tips.

I suspect you can have a good time in a fast car, without thinking to yourself
"hang on a minute, if I go just a bit faster, I might just top myself on this bend"

If i set out on every hoon with this thought in mind, my next thought would be concerning a eurobox with cupholders. I like driving fast and neatly on the road, and i'd rather have other drivers thinking how considerate i am, as opposed to 'what a moron for coming off that corner, the wrong side of the road towards me'

No not you Hollywood. Top tips thanks. It's the other guys. They're enough to make me sell my toy and buy a Nissan Micra

Don't do what you can't see.
If you are going to hoon along a country road, leave room for nutters, like yourself, potentially coming towards you.

As for your license: keep 'em peeled!

Be aware that there might be somebody just like you, out for a blast, coming the other way.

Or buy a rally car and find out how good (or not) you really are when competing against really good drivers on closed-road tarmac stages, or on gravel in the forests.
