First NEPH/NYPH run of 2005 - Cobweb run - North York Moors.

Meet up at Helmsley for a bite to eat. There are a couple of carparks, Market Square and a long stay. It has not been possible to book a meal this year due to all those mothers. There are plenty of café’s and sandwich shops though.

We plan to leave Helmsley about 14:00

Richard and I will provide maps and directions and the plan is to run point-to-point, i.e. we will drive to a specified place and stop to regroup.

You will need change for parking and possibly for a toll road. Please bring £3.40 in change. The NYM run is about 2hrs and it ends within easy reach of the A1 and A19 with a stop in an all day pub.

Please let me know if you’re coming so that I can print off an appropriate number of maps.

Most of us NY Phers are meeting at Helmsley at 12.30pm after the "barn fondle" weekend

I would suggest anyone else coming should meet up at the Holday Inn express front CP
A1036 Nr junc A64
The route Id suggest is a great road
Out of hotel turning right
left onto A1237 ring road
right onto wigginton road the B1363 and keep going until B1257 into Helmsley

See you there

Rich (new snowboard fan!)

Folks I'm going to venture up onto these roads Friday afternoon to see whether there are any problems.

Keep an eye on this thread just in case we need a change of plan. I'll post a roads report Friday PM.

Richard, will you be in range of PH or mobile phone reception?

I may be able to make this.

S2000 owner from Grimsby.

Depends if my football match is called off on Sunday.

Just?
Imagine how sporting events would be without people watching.

It says on their website that they're meeting on the A1/M62 services, so won't go near the M18.

It's a bit rough up on those moors

The Cobweb Run is on.

The planned route is a non-starter though. I am frantically sorting out an alternative and will get directions to you all when we meet. If you can't find me then find Richard 'gemini', I'll see that he has a handful of route plans. It's a shame that we won't be tackling the list of unclassified roads I had planned but having just driven them in a 4x4 I promise you, you don't want to drive your P&J's on them.

We will leave Helmsley, as planned, at 14:00.

Just driven from Helmsley to Malton, and the road will be closed at Broughton tomorrow, apparently. At least, there's a sign announcing that...

Just in case that will affect anyone, say, doing A64 to Helmsley.

Bugger. That's on the last leg of the run. There's bound to be diversion signs though.
