A guy I work with also has a part time job at a certain High St retailer. When I mentioned the other day that I was planning to get a new camera he told me to pop in and that he would do it for trade price (Who am I to complain!)

Now the camera retails for £229 in the High Street Store (The one Rico isn't very fond of!).

The trade price I was offered the camera was.......

(Wait For it)............

£222!!!!!!! (A saving of £7!).

Now bearing in mind I can get this camera for £179 off the net i'm thinking about buying a load in bulk and selling them to them at £200 making myself a tidy profit and allowing them to sell them for some extra profit.

The margins are slow that i'm guessing they make their money out of memory cards etc etc.

No real reason for this thread! Just an observation!

Yup a million and one people will have had the E-buyer mailing trying to flog it at £179.98....

Here

So there's a Supply-Demand thingy going on! Are they bringing out a new model?

I can supply cameras at 'trade' prices too. But the net either undercuts them or makes it pointless to try to sell any (eg £7 profit on a compact).

There's trade and there's trade. Big companies play silly buggers with their pricing all the time, and it's not just volume that counts.

I knew someone in the car stereo business a while back and I contacting him to get a new box of sounds for the Noble. '£449 Phil, that's £25 off for you.'. Cue a bit of internetery...'I can get it for £325, and I've checked it's not a grey import'.'F*$%!', say mister supplier, 'that's £50 less than I get them from Sony!'.

It wasn't a grey import and he bought some off this shop to sell himself. They shipped about the same volume.....
