1st trip abroad with own bike . Any recommendations for good Insurance Companies . Single trip or annual . My own home insurance not keen. There happy to cover bike but not wheels .

Scott foil with Zipp 404's so about £3k - £4k worth.

Is it essential or do most people not bother ?

Thanks

Never bothered, what about your travel insurance?

Never bothered, what are you insuring against?

Damage / theft / crashing?

John Lewis home insurance covered my bike whilst in possession of the baggage handlers.

Separate cover was ridiculous as they wanted it to cover the whole year. From memory it was the same as the house insurance. Bike listed at £6k. Travel insurance covered it as well once in my possession in the Villa.

Last year I claimed against the baggage handlers for a damaged helmet and bike box. They paid out for the helmet after receiving pictures but wanted to repair the box. Fortunately I'd bubble wrapped the bike within an inch of its life, which after seeing the damage to the box was a heart in mouth moment upon opening.

Take the time to pack it properly and enjoy your holiday.
