See if you can help me with this problem guys. If I take my 350i out for a short run of say about 10 miles then park it up for 10 mins it starts on the button but if I do a trip of about 50 miles even avter sitting for an hour it wont start. It turns over but no sign of it firing. Checked the fuel pump checked all connections and all seems fine. I did once have a similar problem in another car and it was the coil breaking down when hot. What do you all think?

I've got through two coils in just over 2 years on my 350i but misfire became apparent as the engine warmed up. From cold it was all okay. All issues I've had so far have turned out to be HT related - dissy hall effect pick-up, ignition amp, coil, HT leads etc. I might be tempting fate but so far the actual Efi system has been okay.

I'd investigate ignition amp and coil first, just one at a time.

An hour should be long enough for the coil to cool down even after a good thrash.
Interesting.

Pull the plug leads and check that there is a healthy spark. If there is then it's not HT related.

When I was having starting issues I invested in one of these http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rnb-86579?seid=s...

Made confirming spark much quicker and simpler.
