Replacement key for Audi A8 (2007 facelift)

Has anyone had to replace a key ? My spare has gone missing and just wondering if there are alternatives to being gouged by a main dealer. Some google searching suggested I may need to pay up at the local dealer. Just thought I would check before booking in. Any advice appreciated.

this guy has written something for the A4, but I'm sure it works the same if you buy an un-programmed key from eBay

I don't know if the A8 is like the S8 but it's dealer only for the coding, i got the proper MHZ fob and blank blade cut, i can open the car remotely and turn on the ignition but will not crank or start, something to do with the keyless entry fingerprint stop start thing they say.
