This actually happened a couple of months back now but hasn't been sorted. Wife's car (F20 125i) was egged on her way home by some nice youths. I washed off the offending egg as soon as she got home but, as you'd expect, it's left some damage to the paintwork:

Those pictures were taken after I had my DA on it with Megs 105. That neatened up the minor scratches but there are clearly bigger ones, along with a couple of small pock marks.

What are looking at to get this fixed - respray on the panel?

I wasn't sure whether to wet and dry it back a bit and then re-polish. The thought of doing that on a '12 plate car, with the other half's wrath lurking in the shadows, though makes me a little nervous. laugh

Did you use a pretty hard pad with it too?

Really hard to tell from pictures but I suspect that will need sanding right back and filling / painting to be 100% again.

Yeah I used the Hex Logic Orange. It's actually really difficult to photograph the damage!

ive never seen egg damage like that polish off , the bits of egg shell have cut into the paint and thats the marks you can see

although if you are prepared to have it painted then no harm in sanding it to see if you can make it acceptable

Seen a lot of it over the years - esp around Halloween. Could be argued as Criminal Damage, but the problem would be establishing the 'mens rea' of being reckless as I suspect most don't realise that an egg can cause this much damage:
After the House of Lords decision in R v G [2004] 1 AC 1034, the mens rea for criminal damage is no longer as stated in Caldwell.
"Recklessness" for the purposes of the Criminal Damage Act is now defined as follows:
"A person acts recklessly within the meaning of section 1 of the Criminal Damage Act 1971 with respect to:
1) A circumstance when he is aware of a risk that it exists or will exist;
2) A result when he/she is aware of a risk that it will occur; and
3) It is, in the circumstances known to him, unreasonable to take the risk.

You'll need the panel resprayed.

The police did look into it but, as you can imagine, there was no chance of finding the little f**kers.

It has been discussed!

Part of the problem is that most people wouldn't have the first idea just how much damage an egg can do to paintwork. Most people that have seen it are amazed and convinced that it's crappy BMW paint that's the issue rolleyes
