I know that quite a few members on here are also members of the Wine Society and as I need to replenish my meagre stock thought I'd check to see what suggestions you might have to include on my order. Mainly looking for everyday drinking but one or two nicer bottles can be added too.

Thanks

Mixed cases of their own label (12) £75 and Exhibition label (6) £79, sorted, gripped etc,

Otherwise a tough ask, so many from which to choose and your personal prefs. are? smile

I normally get a case or two of society reds - XSE-SC16204A

The Society Malbec is a good daily - AR3431

I'm not overly adventurous though.

A topical thread for me, I'm just compiling an order for the coming bbQ season.

Obviously , our tastes all vary but here's some of my staples for daily sub £10 quaffers.

Firstly, The Society's own Beaujolais Villages . Cracking value , fruity and pleasant, unfortunately currenly out of stock, but should make an appearance soon.

Secondly The Society's own Cotes De Gasgogne ( FC29781) cracking value at under £6.00 , and only 10.5% alcohol as well.

Thirdly , Zarcillo Bío-Bío Gewürztraminer 2015 (CE8471) A cracking example of the Society's expertise in Chile.

Forthly Coteaux du Giennois, Domaine de Villargeau 2014 ( LO11421) a little more expensive at just under £8.00 , but an absolute bargain, lovely stuff for that money.

I find myself ordering these wines toime after time, with consistently good results . My Daughter is also a big fan of The Society’s Argentine Malbec 2015 (AR3431), I have to agree with her , I don't order it as I'd lose it wink

You can't go wrong with the Society's Rioja and White Burgundy - that's why they're consistently at (approx.) the top of the bestsellers list.

Clos de Gat Har'El Syrah 2011 - from Israel. Very good, may be considered a bit pricey for a daily tipple. At around £16.

I buy a bit from the wine soc and my recommendations will follow my own (current) taste bias...:

I drink a lot of white Burgundy and NZ chard.

As someone above said - the Society's own label White burgundy is very good.
They've a broad - and very good white Burg selection - but it's not a cheap type to buy.

Better value can be found in similar style wines from elsewhere - i.e. NZ and S. Africa

Bouchard Finlayson Crocodile's Lair Chardonnay Kaaimansgat Overberg 2014 from S Affica

And any of the Kumeu River (incl society's own exhibition NZ chard) and greywacke NZ chards.

Reds, also like my Burgundy Vs rest of world pinot - NZ and S Africa (+ Chile) are good places to look for better value Pinot.

And also a fan of cabernet and cabernet blends, i.e.

Gandolini Las Tres Marias Vineyards Maipo Andes Cabernet Sauvignon 2011
Zaha Mendoza Blend 2012

Appreciate none of that is 'bargain basement' - just wanted to highlight it as being very good.

I buy quiet a lot from Vineyardsdirect,
Château La Roca: Côtes du Roussilon 2012 £7.65
Bergerac: Château de la Jaubertie Rouge 2011 £8.95
Rioja Vega Crianza 2011 Magnum £19.95 (bladdy lovely).
Rioja Vega Reserva 2010 & Rioja Vega Crianza 2012, which nether were a patch on the 2011 but they ran out.

Amazon
Monte Real Reserva Rioja 2003 £12.95
Il Grigio Chianti Classico Riserva 2008 but can only find 2011 now which isn't as nice.

Looking to now join wine society, would anyone benefit from this?

Can certainly agree on these two . Drinking well now, but I've a dozen of each in reserve for 6 or 7 years time.

A cheaper wine (£12.95 I think) is Cavas De Weinart , that punches way above its weight , as does Koyle and the Underraga offerings.
The W/S has got South America in the frame big time.

I don't beleive they promote in that way. They do give the new member back half their joining fee as a credit to buy wine. I think they do that partly to ensure that their praises are sung by impartial members, something that could be cast into doubt if the members gained financially by singing those praises.

Thanks for the reply, I thought maybe someone might get a discount code or £10 off their next order.
I'm going in!

I had the Exhibition Chilean Merlot last night which is £10 a bottle and a lovely drop. That said the 'normal' society Chilean Merlot is really nice.

I usually go for their own label mixed case of red which is really good at about £85.
