Something French Twingo Rs 1??

Well After having my mk 2 Octavia VRS 2.0 tfsi for 2 half years I found myself completely bored by the car . Don't get me wrong it was very good at most things , quick ,quite, comfortable and economical . But it just didn't put a smile on your face , you know that smile after driving your favorite hitting all the apex’s , getting some air time . Now my favorite roads are not most peoples cup of tea . Coming from a rallying family I have always liked proper roads I will give you an example a lot of people love the A82 threw Glen Coe it is a nice road with some fantastic views but its flat the straits are to long its busy a favorite for Strathclyde police the list goes on . But just off the main road there is a dead end road that goes down Glen Orchy (used on sky fall) now this is a road ! Fast, bumpy, undulating and quite the road follows the river to the loch at the end then you have to turn round and do it all again ! I had it down to a choice of two cars the Twingo or a Swift sport . I do like the swift but it is missing the rawness of the Twingo I spotted 3 year old 1 owner car on internet locally so decided to go and have a look . Pulled up at the dealers and the first thing you notice is the front , its mean and has attitude . I didn't know then but my car turned out to be a proper Cup a rere breast with less than a 150 registered in the Uk . I got offered a good deal on the Octavia so a deal was dun .
Its not so quick in a strait line but the corner speeds you can take compared to 90% of the cars on the road is mad and the brakes are equally as good .
If you have always driven Turbo cars it would take a bit of getting used to but I have always had revvy little cars like my puma's.
Now had the car for 3 half year's and over 40k with no problems at all replaced the bottom arms as they ware out and engine and gearbox mounts all known to be issues . Also used her on a few taga rally's with the best result of 6th o/a not bad for a standard car .

To answer a few questions . The standard ecu will just be remapped and should then give 160-170bhp after better mid range rather than out rite power .
Got more plans for later on in the year but still need to get things in place . Also need to get it back on the road as its on the Renault sport stand at the croft supercar event .

Nice, my Mrs has one but the facelift with cup suspension. The suspension is too hard on anything other than a snooker table smooth Road. Quick cars low down but they don't accelerate too hard above certain speeds. Goes round corners nicely though.
My only real issue with them is that at 5"10, the driving position isn't comfortable as the seat does not go far back enough

Don't quite agree on the suspension its only the rear that's a bit to hard and is very predictable on the limit . Get rid of the standard 17" wheels and drop to 16" sorts the ride out better also I curently run 15" speedlines .But its not staying on the standard suspension for much longer as for what the car will be used for it needs something adjustable and stronger . I am 6'3 and actually find it quite comfortable and the seats are good on long journeys . But there also making way also .
I really need to start on getting some of the weight out of the car now . Would like to try and get rid of at least 100kg .

We cannot drive over man hole covers without bracing for impact. I'd love to know how you find it comfortable for seating position - I cannot get the seat far enough back to be comfy driving over a long distance. I did drive it back from Amsterdam to Aylesbury in a day, but my knees did not thank for me it the next day.I really need to start on getting some of the weight out of the car now . Swapping the 17" for 16" makes a difference . As for the seating position I suppose everyone is different in what they find comfortable .Well thought I would do an update as its been awhile . Started off changing one of the front lights as I had damaged it a few years ago in Callander whilst on my way to Oban. What a pain in the Arse to do unbolt wing and bumper to gain access to some of the bolts .
Next was doing the plugs and found 2 completely different types of plugs fitted ! So now has correct plugs .

Bonjour from one RS133 owner to another! Have a fairly similar experience to you with my last car, MK5 Golf GTI, great car...but not a patch on the fun of the Twingo! Jealous of your cams plans that will be amazing!
It has all the parts fitted to it and was mapped before heading up to Mull now dun nearly 2k with no issues .The car is so different to a standard car the way it now pulls is fantastic . Got a few plans that will hopefully come off .
