Are you for real? Your sob story hasn't worked on me one bit.
Furthermore, you're an engineering student who bought a lemon?!
How about attempting some remedial work yourself - total appropriate if want to be an engineer, or just keep driving it with a few rust bubbles!
FFS when I was a student every car I had was rusted, leaked oil, had tyres on the limit and always needed something doing to them.
You are not a charity case and get no sympathy from me... get a part time job and pay for it yourself

Plenty of broke people have MX-5's, I am one, if its arches rust I will have to decide whether to live with it, earn some money and fix it or get rid. These are also your options.
Cancer research, suicide prevention, famine relief, these are the sort of things worthy of charity, not a student with a car thats gone a bit scabby.

What have I missed. Has this guy set up a JustGiving page to fix his bucket MX5
Pretty much, had a charity giving page set up and everything, seesm to be the entitlement generation. If you cannot afford it maybe you shouldn't have it, or maybe earn the money to pay for it, or sacrifice something else so you can have it? Nope I'll set up a charity page online and ask strangers for money

Hi all,
My first post here after being a silent reader of the forum for a little while now!
Unfortunately my first post isn't quite what I had planned though...
My pride and joy 1.6 mk2.5 MX5 has caught the notorious arch rot problem and after taking her to my local specialist and digging about the underside properly it appears that some serious work needs doing.
This is the point where I am unsure if moderators allow this sort of thing to be posted on here, apologies in advance if this is considered a no-go... I am currently a student (and one with very little cash flow might I add) and after forking out all my savings many months ago to buy what seemed a very nice car, its now backfired and is set to cost me big time.To save repeating myself, if anybody can find the time to spare a minute and give my page a read, I would be incredibly grateful. The link is gofundme dot com / savemx5
Thanks ever so much guys and girls, I look forward to perhaps meeting many of you in months/years to come at meets across the country!

I'm glad I'm not a student any more. Means I don't have to feel a bit offended when morons like this come along and make all students look daft.
I am, and it does bug me a little. Still, I'd argue that the people that think this sort of thing is acceptable are few and far between, I'm not even sure they're more common now than they were! There have always been people that want things free if they can get it, it's just the internet makes it that bit easier for them. I'm actually more upset that an engineering student (if he is one) bought a s
