I work in a service industry. Obviously as a Powerfully built Multi-director I avoid customers and the general public as much as I can but when I do see people some, the same ones, despite being met with a cheery hello never ever smile.

They literally look like they have the weight of the world on their shoulders and look permanently down with furrowed brows and posture that says down trodden.

If you look like that you'll feel like that and will be like that I say.

We all have our cross to bear but some people seem to go through their day without ever being in the slightest bit happy.

I can't work it out to be honest.

I'm not known for being the most outwardly happy person or happy-cheery-chatty like some of the idiots I work with. But one of them absolutely takes the biscuit. In two years they have not said anything positive, smiled or done anything but moan about their life and work.

Initially I was a little concerned that it was work pressure or something which I would have to resolve.

Turns out they are just a miserable sod.

It's because staff are avoiding them all the time hehe
From my experience the general public as a whole are grumpy and unrealistic in all matters who think that companies should simply bend over backwards for any request they want and if they don't they'll use social media blackmail to get what they want.

Maybe they do have the weight of the world on their shoulders and just can't tell you about it, a bad diagnosis for them or a loved one, a hard past, money problems, a difficult relationship etc...

Or maybe they are just miserable sods. The terrible thing is its almost impossible to know the difference, some people could really do with a chat and others it will make no difference as they don't really have any big problems.

I have, as my daughters tell me, what is currently known as Resting bh Face.

I'm not a smiley person but I'm not unhappy. It's just how I look.

When the Beatles first came to the USA, a reporter asked Ringo why he was unhappy.
He said "I'm not unhappy, it's just my face"

If I try to do a fake smile, I look like Gordon Brown after his lessons biggrin

Has it occurred to you that maybe they hate you?

I'm the same. I just look stupid when I smile. So I don't.
