if a garage is changing oil for you, how do you know there using what you asked for and not some cheaper stuff. there cant be anyway of knowing apart from watching them do it can there??

Nope. There is no way of being sure except watching them open the can and poor it in.

However, if you find a garage you trust then you should be okay. In fact a decent specialist will probably recommend oil that they have found works best over a number of years. This is better than any manufacturers recomendation.

They might give you the rest of the can, like some places do with screenwash. I suppose big dealers just pump it out of a 40-gallon drum though.
