Parking eye nightmare
Discussion
So it seems I've fallen foul to a Parking Eye mishap!
I visited a local hotel to take part in a survey, we were asked to register our cars at the reception which I did and keyed in the reg into their computer system. We've since had a letter through stating we owe £100, the usual letter with pics of the car reg etc, all I can think is I've keyed the reg in incorrectly as its a new company car.
I'm not sure how to proceed now as the car is my GF's company car and as such her work have had the letter sent to them, which we now have.
Any advice?

If you legitimately parked at the venue, then simply take it up with them to get it sorted out. Even if PE take it all the way to court, wouldn't you be able to provide proof of your legitimate use of the parking facilities?

Who do I take it up with? Yes I can prove the reason I was there, is it best to visit the hotel to discuss or call PE?If you legitimately parked at the venue, then simply take it up with them to get it sorted out. I had the same issue, I got a parking eye ticket when I was at a First Aid course through work.
I found that the place in question could not do anything in terms of cancelling the ticket and I had to contact parking eye myself. I wrote them a letter stating the time date and reason I was parked. They cancelled the ticket. This was after I tried to ignore it for at least 3 warning letters until I received court summons. I realise they get a lot of bad press but I found they are reasonable if contacted and the situation explained.
Not so much a nightmare, more a pain in the ar*e. Hope you get it sorted.

Register and post on http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?s=5985c9c0e686... , the advice you've had upthread is good but the devil is in the detail (for example, while Parking Eye [PE] won the Beavis case, it only applies to a particular set of circumstances which don't apply in the vast majority of cases) - knowledge is power over these 'private parking companies'
.
Also search for "parking prankster" and see what his site has to say about PE (it's "interesting"
), and visit "money saving expert" as well.

Call the hotel reception as they will have access to the PE "whitelist" so will be able to cancel the charge for you. We get plenty of these through on our fleet and despite PE threatening to take all sorts of legal action, it normally only takes one call to the hotel to sort it out.
Do not call Parking Eye, they will convince you that you are guilty as sin, and will suffer untold VBRJ etc. Because they are lying immoral toads.

Well problem solved, spoke to the hotel and apparently they have it a lot since the system went in. They've taken the details and will have the fine cancelled, will take 2 weeks so told me to expect another letter but it will be cancelled.
Next time I need to pay more attention and not turn into a total retard when I enter the details.

The wife was done by Parking Eye when she visited an unfamiliar Aldi; not realising that you need to input your registration number into a terminal upon leaving the store.
I contacted Aldi via their website, they contacted me on the phone within an hour, I explained the problem, they asked me to send a receipt; who keeps a receipt from Aldi when you spend a tenner? I sent a copy of the wifes bank statement proving that she was at the store on the day, they cancelled the fine.
All very easy and I managed to do all of the above without asking for advice first on a forum!!

It is not a 'fine', it is a speculative invoice. It is only a fine when a court has ordered it.I contacted Aldi via their website, they contacted me on the phone within an hour, I explained the problem, they asked me to send a receipt; who keeps a receipt from Aldi when you spend a tenner? Thats great but the have anpr on carpark that are not retailer and even if you pull in and drive straight out they have been known to send £100 fines as happened to one of ours vehicles.I contacted Aldi via their website, they contacted me on the phone within an hour, I explained the problem, they asked me to send a receipt; who keeps a receipt from Aldi when you spend a tenner? Contacting retailers is also one of the first steps to try if it their carpark you got caught in.

Yes while the setting of fines is effected if the beavis case is is basically when you over stay 40 mins over your 2 hours free as the guy did.

The Beavis car only focused on one aspect of the issue, and even then it was under specific circumstances. There are so many variables involved that there isn't a one fix fits all solution, but there are many ways to challenge these.
Thankfully POFA 2012 was a very rushed piece of legislation and is full of holes and open to interpretation on many counts.
