The last 993 Turbo VIN
Discussion
Hi,
I thought I would ask this forum as I have had little luck with Google.
My 993 Turbo was registered in Sep 97 but of course that does not necessarily tie into its build date.
According to https://www.stuttcars.com/technical/vin-decoder/ the last 5 digits are the serial number. Mine is 70066 which again confuses me as according to wiki there were 68066 Total 993?
Thanks in anticipation of any information.

Well my 993 turbo is made in 1998
the V in that chassi number is the year my car is W.
There is a very good book, second edition now about the history of the turbo from Porsche I'll try and find the title, I have a copy at home and prob need to get the title of the book from that. This book has loads of data in the back about how many turbos produced by country code/year and what was the chassi number range.

Thanks for the info. Re the year build letter - I'm not sure if that is correct as mine is also a W but registered in 97?
Next model year swap over was/is I believe August so it must be a 98 spec car hence the VIL Why not get Porsche to send you the certificate of authenticity? Free if your a PCGB member. It will state build date, options etc etc on it. In my case, my 993 was built late October 1993 and registered 5-6 weeks later in the UK on the 7th December.
