Ive just asked them politely to not do that......You know i get very annoyed at anyone slagging off the love of my life....PPC magazine found that out when they slagged off the Tasmin....Shame Miss "Soapsuds" didn't personally deliver the apology though....She should set up a recovery service...Just looking at her got my motor going....

I once got what amounted to hate-mail when I slagged-off the Morris Minor on some forum... it was a mass-produced tin box for plebs, sometimes with wooden bits, which rotted before your eyes, was gutless, didn't handle particularly well even by the standards of the day it was introduced and certainly not by the time it was discontinued... poor electrics, stupid design (e.g. the brake master cyl inside the chassis rail IIRC) and so on... all of it fair comment I thought but Mr Beardy Elbow-Patches was having none of it
I know it sold in the millions but so did various other heaps like the 2CV and VW Beetle; they all served their purpose of basic transport but 'good' cars they were not.
Sorry, going off on one there...
Citroens? Hateful things. Second only to Renault, and I've had various from both plus Peugeot so I think I'm qualified to comment.
With the exception of the Renault 25's 2.2L petrol and the 1.8L (not the 1.9) Peugeot diesel engine, the rest is like domestic white goods. Use it until the warranty expires then get shot quick.

I'm with you - so many 'classic' cars now loved by enthusiasts were total and utter crap. Built down to a price, minimum standard, unsafe even, fell apart whilst you watched (especially BL cars of the Marina/Allegro era), and yet now to say such things makes you some kind of 'hater'. I remember having a new Montego on hire (for work) and I hit a bump on the motorway and "ping!" the driver's door trim jumped off, never to be seen again.... Cars are built to the "CAN" priciple (= Cheap, Adequate, Nasty). I remember a friend (with rich parents) buying him a brand new Vauxhall Viva (yeah, I know) and after two weeks, a LUMP OF FILLER FELL OFF THE SIDE PANEL !
So many 'sports' cars of the era simply had the same engine but with twin carbs (or twin choke for Fords) and very little else apart from the badges..
But today I'm not sure the average box has improved all that much - sure, they are a bit safer, a bit more reliable, a bit more economical, but mainly because technology got cheaper and legislation got tougher...

All this from a bod who has 2 x Citroens in his profile garage ummmm
and the "other one" ?and you think a V6 Activa is not a drivers car then ?
and you think a large Citroen Estate is not good for my work ?
I will say again, a wedge IS cool, but in that form it has lots of design/line errors. Design is a personal thing but there are basic rules, I accept the personal aspect and the choices made by people but it is hard not to see the problems with the lines. Blind defence by attack just reflects your lack of understating of my observations no the shape. I also would like to point out I have said f-all about the way these drive as cars or the nice sounds they produce.
You make a silly and cheap jibe as you cannot defend the design in an intelligent way

Yes and 99.9% of the time we just think..."Tw@" and let them pass....
As i said on the other thread ..."I love all classic cars"...However i don't like modern boring bread bin tin top rubbish...But hey each to their own.....

IMHO, I think there are some beautiful shapes and styles on vehicles - and it's not at all related to whether the oily bits match up to the shape. Quite a few 'lookers' have crappy underneaths and engines. Not all of them of course. And there are some bloody awful, ugly, terrible lookers. And some have better handling and performance than you would ever guess.
But I reckon nobody will agree, beauty is indeed very personal. And that's good.
More than ever now, all the new cars look to have come from the same mould (same design software ?) and I think the legislation doesn't help either. I think that's a tragedy - where's the individuality gone ? Shame.
So I can see why people want to have a reminder of when cars were individual, and that's good, but please don't think that the car somehow gets better with age like a good wine.....
TVRs and Lotuses, (and others) to me class as manufactured kit cars, and yes they have some poor design bits as well as good bits. And before you say it, calling something a 'kit car' is NOT a put down....not to me anyway.

who said I would be intending to overtake so why would I pass ?.....you really miss the point don't you. Try taking off your myopic defence glasses.
To be fair mate if you were that close to me and wouldn't f
k off then i would just slam my brakes on...Game over dirt bag!....And there wouldn't be much to say in your myopic defence to your insurance company or the local constabulary!...Might be best if you toddle off to your garlic flavoured snail croissant lifestyle and leave the big boys alone....Pal.

They are called Wedges for a reason....What are you blabbing on about lines for?...These were hand built cars and they are not perfect but thats why we love em...So to blab on about the "Lines" is to insult the car...Is it not?....Im afraid you are starting to remind me of the hunchback of notre dame..."The lines...The lines"...Might just be the french connection...

You guys....lol
A small critique of the design and you cannot keep away from personal insults and any desperate distraction, you ALL so far assume incorrectly I dislike the car as a whole (which I do not).
If this is the standard of Wedge owners I despair, it seems it is the most perfect design to honour our eyes in motoring history. I best go tell the Italians the bad news. Really ? no "lines" ?
BTW, who said I would be so close that a stupid prick brake testing would cause me a problem ?

This thread confuses me. It started off as a Wedge defence call over in another thread to defend the wedge shape and has ended with Wedgers putting other cars down...
Pot:kettle
All cars of all ages interest someone. They are all part of motoring history and some, the 'crap' cars from the 70s attract me at car shows because I remember them very clearly growing up as a kid (and later driving them second hand in the 80s).
So let's all respect each others choices as to what they want to drive, even if we don't like it ourselves

Yeah...Unfortunately i got caught and spent 10 years in Broadmoor for serious assault..Wounding with intent to cause serious bodily harm...Don't know what all the fuss was about...I only chopped a few fingers off...An ear...And i swear i did trip with a stanley knife and accidentally caused a wound that needed 68 stitches and 3 years of psychological counselling... Honest your honour.....
If there is anything else you want to ask me then please feel FREE...You don't have to go reading my bio like a child!.
Keep calm...
Keep smiling...
