I've checked this out on the forum and found a couple of useful threads. I am getting the wheels powder coated on my vantage V8 on Monday and would rather take the wheels off myself rather than trust the powder coater. I have seen some photos on this forum identifying the approx spot to put the stands on the under trays. I have two questions, one, is it really safe to leave the under trays in place when you do this and two is it best to raise the front first and then the back or back then front? Cheers G

I cannot answer all of your question, but I do remember a previous topic about jacking. One piece of advice was to place a hockey puck (I think it is called), between the jack and jacking point. One contributor had even altered the pucks slightly, for a tailored fit.

Using the aforementioned ice hockey pucks, lift the car on the jacking points under the sills and remove the wheels. Then support the car on axle stands, remove the jacks and go to the other end. I prefer to lift the rear first, then the front but it should not make any difference.

I use a lump of wood between the axle stands and the chassis to prevent damage.

If you trust them enough to powder coat your wheels then why not trust them to take the wheels on and off? I am sure they have done it before.

Is it ok to do one corner at a time if you only have one jack?

yes it is fine but make sure the axle stand is in a secure place because doing one at a time, the weight of the car shifts sideways as you lift it and it is possible to slide it laterally off the axle stand.
