Hi all, I am looking to replace my power steering pipes with new ones as the originals are slowly leaking and look like they may burst. I have taken off the old pipes 2 of which are just straight normal tube and the other has special fittings on the ends. I have been looking to get this http://tvrpartsonline.co.uk/product/power-steering... kit but in the image one of the pipes has a U-turn in, is this the correct kit for a pre serp 93 chimaera? Has anyone had experience of this kit/ supplier as I have not used them before? Thanks smile

That kit is fine but my advice would be don't bother with the end finishers and use beefier clips - no idea whether a pre-serp needs some different configuration

I bought this kit for my Serp engined Griff. At that time he traded as Johnny Z on the PH Parts site. I found him helpful and the kit excellent quality.

You could have the same hose kit made up a lot cheaper at your local Pirtek, which I suspect is all Johnny Z of TVR Parts Online is doing.

Saying that the guy is just making a profit, and if you didn't want the hassle of getting the hoses made up yourself you may well prefer to just buy his kit, at least you'd know Johnny Z's slightly pricey offering will fit first time.

Being lazy I did just that and it hasn't leaked a drop since I fitted it, the crimped "U" pipe that replaces TVR's comical and constantly weeping Jubilee clipped effort under the pump is the key improvement.

I had this on my Chimaera, brilliant and saves a lot of leaks

I also fitted a Magnefine oil filter in the return line to extend the life of the rack, you might want to consider doing the same

The pipe with the u bend in it is the one that goes from the reservoir to the pump, the u bend sits under the PAS pump It replaces the two pipes clamped on to a ubend that the factory installed and eliminates the two clamped joints that are prone to leaks.

Is this hose kit an easy DIY fit?

I have a small leak I think at the HP banjo on the rack and as the car is currently minus front suspension I might as well switch all this out at the same time, rather than plan A which was ask for it to be investigated at service next month.
