Just found this old thread title in the archive. Ironically, he has apparently indulged in ungreenlike pollution by having four children! Just for starters they will need anything from thirty to eighty mature trees-worth of oxygen per annum, depending on your source of info.

At least he is reported to be working for the forestry commission!

We very nearly visited the camp one night after kick out time at the nearby nightclub, wish we had now !

They did a good job of the second runway to be fair, and the surrounding wildlife area.

A pal of mine revealed he spent some time during his gap year in the trees near Newbury with Swampy & Co and had trustafarian dreadlocks.
He cut off the dreads when he went to RMAS later that year and Commissioned into the Grenadier Guards. I think he may be a Lt Colonel now.

Just LOLd at this on his Wikipedia page!

Wikipedia page said:
Swampy was parodied in a Judge Dredd comic featuring "Spawny" who impeded the construction of a "Spaceport" in the same manner as the real-life eco-warrior. The story ends with the construction continuing unimpeded, with Spawny apparently being sealed alive under the concrete foundation, a reference to a public comment by Conservative minister John Watts that he would like Swampy to be "buried in concrete".

I remember in about the 1990's a swampy type encampment being set up in Bingley (west yorks) to protest about the planned by pass.

one of our friends who was a bit alternative went to stay there and smoke dope for the summer, after uni. The entire encampment got food poisoning from eating food from the co-op's skips.

My friend turns up at another mates house one evening where we're all having a party: with some of these weirdos.

they sit there, with no beer, no fags, expecting to be handed tins of beer all night: because "its all communal man"............

after about an hour we gave them a can of vimto each.

roll on about an hour, one of them has disappeared. we look in the kitchen and he's actually making himself a meal !!! That's right, in a strangers house.

The next day, with us all hung over to hell: we go to a local cyclists cafe in a place called Otley for a full breakfast.

Jimmy Saville frequented this place a lot: turns out, he was there, with a beautiful convertible blue jaguar, no plate A1 OBE.

one of these swampies starts having a pop at his expensive car, how disgusting and extravagent it is. He should give it all to charity.

I DEFEND Jimmy saville, about his charity work, knowing that I think he has raised some £50m for charity in his hard working life and to leave the poor bloke alone: why can't he at 70 odd have a nice car. Oh if only we'd all known.

Heading back: one of these swampies says drop me off here by the canal. Turns out he's not really a swampy- he's spending his summer wandering about on his parents 60' narrow boat, dressing and pretending to be all alternative, to hide his vast wealth and by the looks of it, fail to shag alternative swampy girls.

anyway, cool story over bro'.

swampy to jimmy saville in one tale: who'd have thought it.

With gems like this and your job experiences mentioned on the Council vol. 1 thread, you really need to write a book!
