Training I guess?

Earlier on this evening an unusual helicopter for here, (S.E.Essex) flew over. I think looking at google images the closest i can get is a Blackhawk.
10 minutes ago, loads and loads of noise so i mooched out into our garden for a nose. I could here 1 helicopter had landed in the field out the back of our fence, by the hospital where the air ambulances normally land. Then another big (ish) one was circling above, and then they both buggered off as quick as they arrived.
I'm assuming war hasn't broken out, so any ideas from those in the know as i'm just curious

When operating as pairs one aircraft remains in over watch whilst the other lands.

There are some big military exercises going on in the east of England.

There are Pave Hawks (a derivative of the Black Hawk) based at Lakenheath so I guess it was those, whenever I've seen them they're in pairs too.

Was a bit unusual and bloody noisy, mind you swmbo didn't awake.

I'm ok grumpy, just been offered the chauffeur job again for the summer but it means that horrendous daily commute around the M25. 75 miles each way to take into account on top of a 10-15 hour day 🤔
