Aversion therapy, canines not dogs :)

I've noticed a few clued up dog lovers on here so have a question to ask.

I have some pretty good books about dog psychology but can't find a remedy to cure a border collie fixated on footballs. He adores kids and becomes hysterical when he hears a footbal at quarter mile distance. his hearing is also better then mine!! All fairly harmless goofing around but one day he burst 2 cheap footballs so no longer funny.

I need to stop this behaviour. I've have some ideas but there must be nicer ways Does anybody know the 'fix' for this problem or if there's a good behavioural book I can order. Thanks.

Try this -we took our pup to Sarah's classes some years ago -she knows all the tricks!!

Electric shock collar, I have seen these in France. Will sort it out in minutes, not hours, not days, but minutes. Spoke to a few dog owners in France who have used them, after just a couple of zaps when behaving badly, they are trained. Main comment was it cost a lot of money, and they only needed it a day!

I've wondered about these. They cost about £60 as far as I'm aware. I also wondered about tying a ball to his collar permanently for a few weeks. He'd soon be sick of that. Hmmm,
