Hi folks,

As it says, can 'cruise' be retro fitted to my 996 4S .......... I really miss having it . Interested in possible DIY install or 'supply and fit'(based in Scotland)

Either way id be interested to hear any feedback on this ...

Thanks and regards

Barry

Needs the four stalk switches and then programming. Porsche don't but plenty of Indies offer it. Have seen some places offer a simple switch instead.

Yes did my 996 Turbo.

4 stalk pod cheaper than 3 stalk, then you need to wire, and Porsche will program.

Nothing particularly difficult if you know what you are doing and are reasonably competent in taking things apart.

But not sure whether worthwhile if your stalks are still fine.

Simple job , had my C4S done. It needs wiring in and a laptop to set up. I got my indy to do it for me. A really good mod. It helped that my indicator lever was broken anyway, so an upgrade was a no brainer.

Barry,

You only buy the 4-stalk indicator/wipers/etc controls/stalk assy.

You then need to make up a mini-loom as wiring is not present. Oh and buy VW type connectors to hook up to the car's connectors, to make this mini wiring loom.

That done an OPC or Indy or perhaps someone with full Durametric needs to set cruise to "active" in the OBC.

DIY or not?

In fairness, Id rather not do it myself ....... although I'm in the trade I just don't have the time to dedicate to these things - I wish I did ! Thanks for the constructive replies - Im sniffing about to find someone I know locally in the trade who I can reply on to do this for me .

Thanks again
Barry

Barry what I am getting at is that unless whoever it is knows exactly what needs to be done, they can't do it for you. Or at least, not for any realistic charge.

In effect whoever did this first did a lot of research into it, it's not something that you would go to an Indy who has not done this before, and it's completed in an afternoon (even though it's really only a couple of hours work at most).

There is some info out there but I am limited by the request made by one of people who probably originated this hack, that information is not published. However he is a very helpful person. If you email me I can give you his name and he can either help you out himself, or "OK" me to supply you the info.

Cruise control can be retro fitted. Will be getting my C2 done at some point. Some of the independents will do for about £300 plus vat. I also seam to remember it was covered in one of the porsche mags not so long ago. Think vould have been 911 and porsche world.
