Yes it's a team of one that occasionally flies with the spitfire. How long have they been going then? Is it a team of one?
It's been going for a few years. Like the red arrows, he's quite active on Twitter. From what I can gather he goes around showing off and tweeting #bringthenoise all the time,
As an aside all these air display groups like the Reds or the Vulcan (when it was around) tend to have loads of information on their Twitter feed. It certainly adds to any airshow when the crew are tweeting before and after or during (Vulcan) the event. There's always loads of information and videos/photos etc.

I'd argue that using the word 'Team' is quite correct.
The RAF seems to describe all of it's display assets as 'Teams' regardless of the number of aircraft involved, and rightly so. While it might be initally missleading (as in your experience) it's encompassing the efforts of all of the personell incolved in getting that A/C to the display line (aircrew, groundcrew, admins, etc...). This seems to fit with the current RAF Careers ethos of placing equal importance on all trades and ranks. The MOD displays are as much about PR & Recuirment (if not more so) than general entertainment.

It depends on how old you are as to how you define "team". In the days when the RAF had multiple display teams, all of these teams had two or more aircraft. The idea that a solo display aircraft would have been described as a "team" would have been laughable. The RAF seems to describe all of it's display assets as 'Teams' regardless of the number of aircraft involved, and rightly so. In the modern sense, we use the team far more frequently than we used to when describing a group of people who work together so it doesn't sound so dumb to describe a single aeroplane as a "team".

It's like calling Andy Murray "The Andy Murray Tennis Team".
Yeah that's a bit weird. Presumably most display aircraft could be described as a team as they usually have a few people involved in keeping the aircraft in the air and getting it ready,
It wasn't the Vulcan display team or the Canadian Lancaster team was it?
If you see the words "display team", you reasonably expect to see a team of aircraft flying in formation and doing some kind of display together.

Would Ferrari, McLaren and Williams be any less a Race Team if there was only one car?
We're not talking about a couple of mates that help-out. No ground crew, no display.
The pilot knows that as well as anyone.
But it's nothing to do with racing. We're not talking about a couple of mates that help-out. No ground crew, no display.

A display team is a few aircraft flying in formation.
A display aircraft is one aircraft doing a routine by itself.
It's got nothing to do with how many people are involved just how many are in the display.

Listen to him in interviews, he says "we" instead of "I" all the time. It really is a team effort.
I'm not saying it isn't - but it's never referred to as "Team Andy Murray".The point I am making is that, these days, we are more likely to refer to "teams" in general than we once were. It's become more of a buzz word for work that involves more than one person. In the past, "team" tended to be used in more restricted circumstances such as in the case of formally constituted teams like football teams or aerobatic teams.
