Hello,
Just a quick one!
What do you think I should tell my insurance company about the Hurriacne... I want to make sure the quote isn't stupidly high before I buy the kit... does it effect insurance????

Also, is it worth getting one if I haven't got a sports exhust... I just want a slightly nicer noise from my S2 (with cat pipe)

thanks!

Why not call them and ask? Its not going to make massive amounts of bhp difference which is what they seem to be interested in, so depending on insurer they might let you off.

When I re insured with Elephant this year I told them that I would only renew if they they didnt charge me for a decat pipe having already charged 50 quid for the sports exhaust.

Some of them seem to be more mod friendly than others.

I am having a similar problem right now. I was am getting a sports exhause & cat + Inducion kit fitted a couple of days before my insurance renewal is due.

My renewal quote from elephant who don't know about the planned mods yet was 150 higher than last year despite the fact I'm now 30 and have 5 yrs no claims.

Elephant wanted an extra 68 quid for the exhaust mod and would not insure me with an induction kit. In fact so far (this morning) I have not found anybody who will insure me with the induction kit.

I've yet to hear back from Adian Flux, hopefully they can sort me out. Otherwise I'm wondering what to do. Other PH'ers must have had similar problems - any advice please ?

Somebody must must insure elises with induction kits fitted??

My car came with a K n'N which elephant insured. I think it appears on my policy as non-standard air filter. They seem happy for me to add mods but will make me pay ~£50 each time regardless of power gain.

Just another way for them to rip you off

Try Tesco they would insure a monkey in a tank.... after all they will insure me, a 25 year old in an exige S2 with induction kit and stage 2 exhaust.

Thanks for the advice. In fact I got a result I am very pleased with the quote from Adrian Flux. They have an excellent attitude towards mods and cheapest for me by a long chalk.

BTW, The guy I was speaking to at Brooke Kensington said that the ITG was the only induction system that did much more than just make a nice sound.... I shall find out in two weeks.

AF have been pretty good with me too. If you tell them it's a "replacement" rather than a mod (which generally it is) then you don't get charged an amendment fee only they send a modified vehicles sheet which you have to fill out. Despite that I asked them how much a Hurricane would push it up by, stating that it was mainly a better performing replacement, made a bit more noise and perhaps gave a 2-5bhp increase. £25 amendment fee, no change to XS or actual policy cost.
