Getting really annoyed with Lloyds at the moment. Its bad enough being bombarded by all the banking offers. Then they bombard you with phone/gas/electricity offers.

Now the first question they ask when you use a cashpoint is:

'Do you want to top up your pay as you go mobile?'

NO!

I don't have one. I use a Cashpoint to get cash. Nothing else. It wouldn't be so bad if it was an option on the same menu as cash, balance etc. But to have to answer it first just to get cash is so annoying.

Needless to say I won't be using Lloyds cashpoints ever again.

What bugs me is when you phone up for a balance etc and they pitch you for home contents/car insurance. I realised I was paying telephone charges to be sold sh!te I didn't want. Cheeky feckers.

I'd take a bet on the fact you will!

Come a rainy day and there's only a Lloyds ATM there, I'm sure you will give in!

Sign up for online banking. I haven't spoken to Lloyds in 3 years but have still rearranged overdrafts, set up loans etc. All accounts are shown, couldn't be easier.

Yeah, but then you've got to tick the box to say you've read the warning about reduced statement services, even though you ticked the same box the day before, and the day before, and the day before...

I object more to junk mail and junk post. There ought to be a law passed so if you have a certain sticker on your letterbox it would be illegal to shove it through the hole. Same with posted junk, you should have to opt in to getting garbage posted to you. Same with the Trojan Horse local paper, you pick it up and half the Brazilian rain forest lands on the floor.
Clearly this would never happen because because of the obsession of generating wealth and taxes but it's a nice thought.

I used to have a notice on my door which said "No free papers or leaflets" and I still used to get leaflets shoved through the door. The worst offenders were the local estate agents, you know, "We've sold 200 houses in your area and urgently need more!"

I just used to phone them up and suggest that their leaflet delivery people learn to read.

If you are fed up with all the junk mail you receive you need to join in the campaign. Fill a large envelope with all of your junk mail/newspapers (the heavier the better)and find a peice of mail that has a freepost or postage paid envelope with it. Attach this to the front of your heavy envelope and pop it in the box. These companies will soon get fed up with having to pay the Royal Mail £2-3 a time for all of your unwanted junkmail.

Can't object too much to junk mail. It's the money the Royal Mail make out of it that enables them to offer postage services so cheaply to the rest of us. In the words of Jack Dee: 'You see how far you get with your letter for 27p'!

A couple of years ago there was a campagn in the US to gather as many (read: millions) of free AOL cds. They were then being delivered back to AOL en mass.

Anyone remember/see this? The amount of CDs was truely staggering!

Seriously, if everyone who felt this way (can't believe I am the only one) actually did what you have suggested I wonder what would happen?

I've had it up to the proverbial 'here' with banks. To me, a bank is somewhere I put my money to stop it getting nicked, end of. What people seem to forget is that a bank is a business, and in order to survive as the (very lucrative - see HSBC's profits) business, they have to bombard you with covert ways of fleecing you in ways other than the bare-basic 'money protection' function.

As a result, I don't give them the time of day. Money goes in, money comes out, that's what they do. I ignore every other offer, I don't want a loan, I don't want a credit card, I don't want to enter a shareholder scheme and I don't want a mortgage, as all those other functions are designed to make them money, and the last thing I ever want to do is enter into a service scheme designed to make money for someone surrounded by big bags of other people's cash all day long. They've forgotten what they are, but unfortunately, so have the punters.

That really gets my goat It's a cash point, I want cash. There should be a "NO, FECK RIGHT OFF!" button... Fine if it's a menu choice, but the first question, no way

so if you had a PAYG mobile you wouldn't appreciate the convenience of being able to top up at an ATM?

I must admit. I've been with HSBC for years and I've got no problems with them.

For some reason, I prefer to their own cash points too... they just seem 'nicer'...

Yes, so a menu option would be adequate. Making you say if you want to before giving any other options is pointless and annoying.

No problem with it being on the main menu, but really irked when you have to answer the question before using the ATM. It's almost as annoyng as "service" announcements from O2

I hate my bank blah blah blah.

Leave them and stop whining about it.

When they have lost enough of their customers they might get the hint.

Oddly enough most corporations are cottoning on that if they outsource their customer service to a foreign country where their cost are low but service is poor, then people just switch to another company, blowing away any saving made.

There will be a bank smart enough to provide you with what you want - take your business there.
